How do I set up my Gmail email account with the SuperOffice Inbox?

Answer

To set up your Gmail email account with the SuperOffice Inbox follow the steps below:

Step 1. Check that all prerequisites are met.

Step 2. Configure SuperOffice to use integrated Inbox.

Step 3. Enable access for less secure apps on your Gmail account.

Step 4. Enter your Gmail server and email account information to connect it with the SuperOffice.


 

Step 1. Check that all prerequisites are met

  1. SuperOffice Inbox supports only IMAP and SMTP protocols. Make sure IMAP is enabled for your Gmail email account.
     
  2. To send out an email from SuperOffice the email address you are going to use with SuperOffice Inbox needs to be registered in your contact card. For more information read this FAQ


Step 2. Configure SuperOffice to use integrated Inbox

Read this FAQ Step 2 explains how to do it.

Step 3. Enable access for less secure apps on your Gmail account

Note! This step is not valid for those who use business G Suite or those who use 2 step verification. If you use 2 step verification read FAQ: How to generate a Google App password to use 2-Step Verification with SuperOffice Inbox?

  1. Go to the "Less secure apps" section in My Account.
     
  2. Next to "Access for less secure apps," select Turn on.

Note! This setting is hidden if your administrator has locked less secure app account access.


​Step 4. Enter your Gmail server and email account information to connect it with the SuperOffice
 

     -  If you use SuperOffice version 8.1 or newer SuperOffice will try automatically fill in your email server details after you enter your email and password. If it won't be able to guess these details correctly or the email address and password you entered are not correct you will be redirected to "More settings" dialog. There you'll need manually enter or check configuration information for Incoming and outgoing servers. 

     -  If you use SuperOffice version 8.0 or older you will need manually fill in information for incoming and outgoing servers. See the example below:
 

  1. To get your emails imported to SuperOffice fill in the following information:

    • E-mail server: imap.gmail.com:933
    • User name: your full e-mail address
    • Password: your Gmail account  password
    • SSL: On (You must use SSL, as Gmail is a service which requires this)
       
  2. To be able to send out emails from SuperOffice fill in:

    • Outgoing server name: smtp.gmail.com:465
    • User name: your full e-mail address
    • Password: your Gmail account password
    • SSL: On​

Allowing less secure apps to access your account​

Gmail has a limit of 100 recipients per e-mail.
